STD
These diseases are still relevant with a clear increase in people infected with HIV due to risky behaviors. The immunosuppression of patients makes them more vulnerable, STIs (sexually transmitted infections) are more severe. The best way to protect yourself is through prevention.
Most STIs are on the rise worldwide, despite the effectiveness of treatments. This phenomenon can be explained by many reasons. This is how chains of contamination are created that are difficult to break.
- Changes in morals.
- Early and diverse sexual practices.
- Population movements due to tourism or work.
- From an individual point of view: ignorance or deliberate risky behavior of contaminated subjects, therefore contagious, who hesitate to consult and warn their partner(s).
STIs are transmitted during sexual intercourse (vaginal, orogenital or anal intercourse). It cannot be repeated enough, wearing a condom is the only way to avoid them.
The important thing is to detect STIs and treat them before they lead to serious complications. If you have a particularly eventful sex life and if you do not systematically protect yourself, it is advisable to be screened every year, or even every 6 months, and as soon as you have taken a sexual risk.
Some of these infections, particularly Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, which are very contagious and frequent, can be silent and lead to sterility.
It is important to note that all STIs cause weakening of the mucous membranes and thus increase the risk of contamination by the AIDS virus. Conversely, in the event of infection by the AIDS virus, other STIs can take more serious forms, due to the weakening of the immune defenses.
Do not hesitate to discuss the subject of your sexuality during a consultation. If you do not know how to inform your partner(s), you can discuss with your doctor what attitude to adopt.
